When you are laying out a new design for a web site, the last thing you generally want to do is create a ton of images for the layout. You might make a rounded corner or shadowed text in Photoshop, but that is wasted time if the client doesn’t like it or the website doesn’t turn out as expected. Therefore, here’s a list of some of the different CSS hacks you can use to get around using images.

Kickass Kid of the Day: Mikael @ CCC writes, “My boy Felix saw the photo of the [Hungry Designs Bike Necklace] on screen and I asked him what he thought of it. He shrugged and replied with the current hip slang of boys his age, ‘It’s not really gangsta, is it…’”
So Mikael built a gangstafied bike necklace for Felix to rock, cementing his spot as Valedictorian of Cool Dads High, class of 2010.

shutup.css is a custom user stylesheet you can install in your web browser which will automatically hide the comments section of many popular web sites. My gift of a quieter, saner web to you.
Designing an informational/content-centered website (such as a portfolio or a blog) is much easier than designing a website where we have to deal with registered users. The target of websites that enable user accounts (such as Amazon.com or Gmail, for example) is to not only highlight their featured items and services, but to also convert visitors to signed-up users.
Sites with user registration want to grab every visitor who goes their website. They list their website in every popular search engine, use advertising in other websites, work with bloggers to help promote their products, enlist the help of usability experts and go through great lengths to get noticed.
